Use of the site

You can read, download and print pages from the site for personal use. That covers saving a low waste home guide as a PDF for your own kitchen folder, or printing a checklist for your household.

You can't republish full guides elsewhere, use the content for commercial purposes, or copy it in bulk without written permission. If you run a workshop, a refill shop or a community group and want to hand round one of our pages, ask first and tell us how it will be used. Short quotes with a link back to the site are fine, and we would rather you did that than paraphrase badly.

The same applies to our photography, saved checklists and printable starter sheets. A screenshot in a private household note is not what we are asking about.

Content and accuracy

The guides on the site are written in good faith and checked as far as practical. We read back through a guide before it goes up, we name the swap we mean rather than gesturing at it, and we try to say when something costs money or takes time.

Council collection rules, product availability and safety guidance change over time, and we can't guarantee that everything on the site is current. A kerbside list that accepted a material last spring may not accept it now; a plastic free alternative on a shelf may be out of stock; a compost caddy used at home may need a different liner than the one we photographed.

You're responsible for checking anything that affects safety, legal compliance or your household. That means reading your own council's current guidance, checking a product's instructions before you use it on food or fabric, and telling the difference between our general suggestion and what actually fits your home.

No professional advice

The site offers general information about zero waste living and upcycling. It isn't professional advice, whether environmental, legal or otherwise. We do not inspect your home, your waste stream or your tools, and we cannot say what is permitted where you live.

If a project carries risk, the guide says so. Repurposing old clothes with a sewing machine, reusing glass jars for food, cutting sheet metal from a tin, or working with finishes and adhesives all carry their own handling notes. The responsibility for following safety guidance is yours, and where a manufacturer's instructions are stricter than ours, follow the manufacturer.

Third-party links

Where the site links to other websites, those sites have their own terms and privacy policies. We don't control them and we're not responsible for their content, their stock levels, their prices or how they handle your details once you leave our pages.

We link away only when it helps you finish the job — a council recycling page to check a local rule, a refill shop to compare what is stocked, or a repair service for something you would rather not attempt at home. Being linked does not mean we recommend a business, and it does not mean money changed hands. Where a link is part of a partnership, we say so on the page where it appears.

Intellectual property

The text, images and design of the site are owned by The Rework Room unless otherwise noted. The name and logo are ours. You don't get any rights to them by using the site.

Each guide, its photographs and its step-by-step instructions are the result of work carried out on our own kitchen table, so please treat them as someone's finished piece rather than raw material. Where we have used a photograph from another source or quoted someone else, we credit it next to the image or in the text.

If you believe something on the site uses your material without proper credit, write to us with the page address and we will look at it.

Liability

We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be either. A page may be edited, a guide may be retired, and the site may be unavailable for short periods while we update it.

To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its content. That includes wasted materials from a project that did not go as planned, a missed collection because a local rule had changed, or a purchase that did not suit your home.

Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms if the site changes. A new printable resource, a new type of guide, or a change to how the contact form works could all mean a clause needs revisiting.

The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent review. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. If a change matters to you, the date is the quickest way to see whether a page you read before has moved on.

Governing law

The Rework Room is based in London, United Kingdom, and these terms are written under the law of England and Wales. If a dispute arises from using the site, the courts of England and Wales are the ones that would hear it.

If you are reading from elsewhere in the UK, the rules you are used to for household waste may differ from the English guidance many of our guides reference. Check your own national service before you act on a local collection detail.
